What is Text Encryptor & Decryptor (AES)?

The Text Encryptor & Decryptor (AES) performs authenticated 256-bit AES-GCM encryption and decryption directly in your web browser. Utilizing your custom passphrase and the W3C Web Cryptography API, it transforms sensitive messages, keys, and confidential notes into tamper-proof Base64 ciphertext with zero server interaction.

Designed for accuracy, speed, and privacy, this tool runs entirely on your local device with zero network latency.

How to Use the Text Encryptor & Decryptor (AES)

  1. 1
    Select your operation mode: "Encrypt" to protect raw text, or "Decrypt" to unlock existing ciphertext.
  2. 2
    Enter or paste your confidential text message into the main input area.
  3. 3
    Enter a strong Secret Passphrase (and confirm it) to derive the cryptographic key.
  4. 4
    Click "Encrypt Text" (or "Decrypt Text") to execute authenticated AES-GCM processing, then copy the resulting ciphertext.

Formula & Calculation Logic

Implements NIST FIPS 197 Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) in Galois/Counter Mode (GCM) with 256-bit key length. Key derivation uses PBKDF2 with 100,000 iterations of HMAC-SHA-256, a cryptographically random 16-byte salt, and a 12-byte initialization vector (IV).

Key = PBKDF2(Passphrase, Salt, 100000, SHA-256) | Ciphertext = AES-GCM-256(Key, IV, Plaintext, AuthTag)
