Secure Passphrase Generator (Diceware)

Generate high-entropy, easy-to-remember multi-word passphrases (e.g. Correct-Horse-Battery-Staple) using cryptographically secure Diceware words.

🔒 Diceware CSPRNG: Words sampled from clean EFF-style dictionary using Web Crypto API. 100% private in-browser.

What is Secure Passphrase Generator (Diceware)?

The Secure Passphrase Generator creates memorable, high-security multi-word passphrases using the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) Diceware wordlist. By stringing together randomly selected full dictionary words with customizable separators, it produces credentials that are exceptionally easy for humans to remember but computationally impossible for attackers to crack.

Designed for accuracy, speed, and privacy, this tool runs entirely on your local device with zero network latency.

How to Use the Secure Passphrase Generator (Diceware)

  1. 1
Select the number of words for your passphrase (recommended: 4 to 6 words for everyday accounts, 6 to 8 for master keys).
  2. 2
Choose your preferred word separator: Hyphen (-), Underscore (_), Space ( ), Period (.), or Custom character.
  3. 3
Optionally toggle "Capitalize Words" (TitleCase) and "Include Numbers / Symbols" for additional entropy.
  4. 4
Click "Generate Passphrase" and review the calculated total entropy in bits alongside estimated brute-force crack time.

Formula & Calculation Logic

Based on the EFF Long Wordlist containing 7,776 curated, distinct English words ($6^5$ combinations per 5-dice roll). Each word selected adds approximately 12.92 bits of cryptographic entropy to the credential.

Total Entropy: H = Words_Count * log2(7776) = Words_Count * 12.9248 bits (+ Symbol/Number Entropy)
