What is URL Encoder & Decoder?

URL encoding (also called percent-encoding) converts reserved characters, non-ASCII characters, and spaces into standardized hexadecimal triplets (%XX) so web browsers and HTTP servers can transmit them safely without misinterpreting URL syntax. Our tool supports both full-URL encoding (encodeURI) and query-component encoding (encodeURIComponent) with instant in-browser decoding.

Designed for accuracy, speed, and privacy, this tool runs entirely on your local device with zero network latency.

How to Use the URL Encoder & Decoder

  1. 1
    Paste your raw URL, REST API endpoint, or query string into the input editor.
  2. 2
    Choose your operational mode: "Encode" to transform raw text into safe URL format, or "Decode" to restore encoded strings to plain text.
  3. 3
    Select your encoding scope: "Component Mode" (encodes all delimiters for query values) or "Full URL Mode" (preserves protocol :// and path / slashes).
  4. 4
    Review the live decoded parameter breakdown table, then copy the result directly to your clipboard or download as .txt.

Formula & Calculation Logic

Converts characters outside the RFC 3986 unreserved set into UTF-8 byte sequences, formatting each byte as a percent sign (%) followed by two uppercase hexadecimal digits.

Percent Encoding: Byte -> % + Hex(Byte) | RFC 3986: Unreserved = [A-Za-z0-9-._~] | Reserved = [:/?#[]@!$&'()*+,;=]
